General Trip Details

Student Transportation: Transportation provided to the event for ASI (not BHS). NO transportation provided after the event for any ensemble.

Competition Details 

Competition Site: Clovis East High School, 2940 Leonard Ave, Clovis, CA 93619
Gates Open: 5:30pm
Admission: Only cash or cards will be accepted.

• General Admission: $11

• Student Admission: $8

• Seniors (62+) & Military Discount w/ ID: $8

• Child 5 and under: Free

Spectator Parking: Free in the lots around campus. A parking map will be available soon.
Concessions: Food trucks will be available outside the gym. A small, cash-only, snack shack will be available inside each gym.
Merchandise: Located in the gym, there will be T-Shirts ($25), Sweatshirts ($40), and patches ($10) for sale. Cash or card only.

Percussion Gym: East Gym (Larger one, closer to Leonard Ave)
Colorguard Gym: West Gym (Smaller one, closer to the center of campus)
Performance Times: (Doors are closed during performances. We recommend arriving AT LEAST 15 minutes prior to ensure that you make it.) Percussion performs in the East Gym. Colorguard performs in the West Gym.

Important Reminders

• For the safety of the student performers, flash photography is NOT allowed during performances.

• Video & Audio Recording is prohibited. Out of respect for fellow audience members and spectators and to protect the rights of the original composers and copyright owners who license their music to the Buchanan Instrumental Music Program and organizations that host events we participate in, the use of audio and video recording technology - including mobile devices and live streaming applications - during and rehearsal or performance setting is strictly prohibited.

Packing List & Reminders

• Transportation is provided TO the event, but NOT PROVIDED on the way home. You must have someone pick you up at the show to take you home.

• Plan to have your hair & makeup done before the meeting time. You don’t have a ton of time after school, so it should be mainly touch-ups.

• Bring all the equipment you need for the show in the morning. You won’t be going home after school!

• Bring your own water bottle and tennis shoes!

6:07pm Roll Equipment & Head to Truck

Packing List & Reminders

• Transportation is provided TO the event, but NOT PROVIDED on the way home. You must have someone pick you up at the show to take you home. Dismissal is happening at 9pm

• We will load the truck on Thursday, the day before the show (more info in class.)

• Uniform for Drumline: Student-provided blue jeans, long black socks, White- T shirt and tennis shoes (preferably white). Optional Flannel, hats and bandanas will be provided at the site.

Schedule

3:30pm Come to the BHS Band Room. We will gather our uniforms and make sure nothing is missing.
4:00pm Load buses and depart for Clovis East HS
4:30pm Arrive at Clovis East, Sectionals/Rehearsal with Adaly and Mr. Power
6:15pm Eat Dinner
6:45 Watch Buchanan’s Lot
7:00pm Help Buchanan move into the gym, ready with towels or tarps to keep the equipment dry.
7:18 Watch Buchanan
7:30 Set up in the lot for a quick ensemble rehearsal
8:05pm Run Through
8:15pm Pack up, and push to the gym
8:20pm Push over to the East Gym (larger one, closer to Leonard Ave)
8:30pm At East Gym Doors
8:39pm ASI Winter Percussion Performs in the East Gym
8:47pm Push gear back to the truck, 2 students selected by Mr. Power will stay for awards
8:55pm Debrief with Mr. Power at the truck, make sure your equipment is ready to be loaded quickly
9:00pm Dismissed

Awards will commence after ASI percussion’s performance for this show. Students may stay if they wish, but it is not required.

• Transportation is not provided to or from the event. (Only ASI receives transportation to the event).

• Our uniform will include the black nike shoes worn for football games.

• Bring your Nike shoe bag and your own water bottle.

Packing List & Reminders

• Transportation is NOT PROVIDED to or from the event Only ASI is being bussed to the event.

• We will load the truck on Thursday night (3/13 after rehearsal). Be prepared to stick around for at least an hour to load the trucks!

• Uniform: The uniform includes long black socks, black marching shoes, and Custom Uniform. Uniforms are to be either worn or put in a garment bag - never crumple them on the ground or in the bottom of your garment bag.

Schedule

2:45pm Meet at Clovis East
3:00pm Unload, set everything up
3:30pm Eat dinner (provided).
4:30pm Change into uniforms right after you’re done eating
4:45pm Have sectionals for about an hour.
5:40pm Ready for warmup at the warmup zone
5:45pm Warmup Begins under tarps. Drumline warms up in the truck if needed.
6:20pm Percussion Ensemble, if possible
6:50pm Final Run, then push over to the East Gym (Parent ‘pit crew’ meets at this time)
7:00pm Push to East Gym (larger one, closer to Leonard Ave)
7:10pm At East Gym Doors. Use towels to dry off your feet and the instruments. Take off the tarps from the mixer, synths, and speakers.
7:18pm BHS Winter Percussion Performance!
7:35pm After performance, front ensemble return equipment to the lot, Battery and VE return equipment to the lot and prepare to help Alta at their quick ensemble rehearsal.
8:45pm Awards Begin. Only one member from pit and battery is allowed to go in for awards. Everyone else continue loading.
~10:00pm Debrief and dismiss at the truck. Trucks should be loaded by now.
