General Trip Details

Student Transportation: Provided to and from the event via Charter Bus.
Housing Site: Desert Hills High School, St. George, Utah
Meals Provided/$ for Meals Needed:

  • Friday - Provided: Sack Breakfast on the Bus, Dinner, and Evening Snack. Students need $$ for lunch and should pack additional snacks for the bus ride.

  • Saturday - Provided: All meals provided including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks.

  • Sunday: Breakfast and lunch and additional snacks provided. Students should pack additional snacks for the bus ride.

Spectator Parking [2023 Info]: See site map. There is no charge for spectator parking at the Utah Regional Championship. Please arrive early and allow extra time to get to the stadium, especially during peak times.

Important Reminders

  • Video & Audio Recording is prohibited. Out of respect for fellow audience members and spectators and to protect the rights of the original composers and copyright owners who license their music to the Buchanan Instrumental Music Program and organizations that host events we participate in, the use of audio and video recording technology - including mobile devices and live streaming applications - during and rehearsal or performance setting is strictly prohibited.

  • Bands of America encourages spectators to not bring bags into venues. Clear bags and emergency bags will be permitted. Bag policies are effective to expedite entry into venues and provide additional safety. Spectators will be allowed to bring items such as cameras, provided they are not in cases that would violate the bag policy at that venue.

  • Outside food and beverages are NOT allowed to be brought into the stadium, either by students or spectators.

  • Please remember that parents/friends may not visit the band at the housing site.

  • If you are traveling to St. George and planning to take your student home with you, you may pick them up from Desert Hill H.S. at 10:30am on Sunday, just before we depart. We will not release students on Saturday night after the show.

    • Let us know if you plan to pick them up and what time.

    • Complete the “Post-Event Release Form”.

    • Check your student out from a director or bus chaperone IN-PERSON. We will only release students to their own parent/guardian.

Itinerary - Thursday, November 7, 2024

10:38am Dismissed from 3rd Period/Prep everything for rehearsal including having pre-show attire on under your practice clothes so you can get into uniform for the run-through.
11:15am Be seated in the MPR. Pizza lunch provided by BHS Leadership!
12:00pm Out to the stadium with everything
12:30pm Rehearsal in stadium
2:30pm Get into uniform
2:45pm Full Run-Through in uniform for students and staff on campus. Parents welcome!
3:00pm Senior Run-Through
3:15pm Senior-less Run-Through
3:30pm Move out of the stadium/Load Trucks
4:30pm Dismissed

Itinerary - Friday, November 8, 2024

4:45am Chaperones Report. Meet with the director. Get bus signs and seat assignment placards. Place them on the buses when they arrive.
5:00am Students report to Buchanan. Buses arrive.

  1. Get your luggage from the theater, and put it by your bus.

  2. Return to the Bandroom with all of your carry-on items and check in on the iPad.

  3. Use the restroom before you board the bus.

  4. Do not drink a bunch of coffee on your way to school!

5:05am Loading Crew Carry-On Bag Check by Bandroom.
5:10am Boys bag check, then girls.

  • Chaperones distribute sack breakfasts and take attendance as students board bus.

  • Board the bus with your seat partner. Find your seat quickly and sit down.

6:00am Depart for St. George!

  • Find your seat quickly and sit down. No switching seats!

  • Once you board the bus, you stay on the bus.

  • Mandatory Quiet Time Until 7:30am.

8:45am Restroom Stop/Loves Truck Stop Tehachapi/QUICK Stop/No Shopping.
9:00am Depart
10:30am Lunch stop ($) @ Barstow Station, Barstow, CA.
11:30am Continue to St. George
1:00pm Restroom Stop/Valley Wells Rest Area
1:20pm Depart for St. George
Time zone change...set time 1 hour ahead. 
5:15pm Arrive in St. George at Desert Hills H.S. Unload into gym.
5:45pm Dinner (Provided)
6:30pm Rehearsal in Stadium
9:00pm Rehearsal Ends/Move equipment into school.
9:30pm Get ready for bed.
Set everything out that you will need in the morning.
10:30pm Full Band Meeting
11:00pm Lights out!

Itinerary - Saturday, November 9, 2024 - Show Day!

7:00am Wake Up/Breakfast (Provided)/Change into rehearsal attire.
7:45am Push equipment to the stadium for rehearsal
8:00am Rehearsal in Stadium
9:45am Rehearsal Ends/Load Truck/Get into pre-show attire (Hornline: Instruments go on the bus).
10:45am Out of Gym/Load Buses/Depart for Utah Tech University
11:15am Arrive at Utah Tech University/Unload the Truck/Pit Setup/Prop Setup
12:15pm Lunch at Picnic Area (Provided)
12:45pm To the stadium
1:00pm Watch other Bands (Sit together as a band)

  • 1:00pm Davis H.S. (Utah) (2023 Finalist - 3rd Place)

  • 1:15pm San Marcos H.S. (California) (Utah) (2022 Finalist - 6th Place)

1:15pm Back to the truck to get ready for prelims/Get into half uniform.
2:05pm Ready for Show/Lined Up for Warm-Up/Possible Group Photo

  • Half Uniform. All instruments should be ready to go. Uniforms folded. Section leaders get water bottles for your section.
